My PC is psychic. I kid you not. If I put my cell phone near it, it starts going "Bzzt-di-di-di-di-dit" several seconds before the thing actually rings, when I have an incoming call. Unfortunately, it refuses to screen my calls and tell me whether I really want to answer them.
It frequently make this annoying whiny humming noise unless I kick it gently and then keep my foot pressed against the front bezel or the right side of the case. Needy, high maintenance thing! Why do I think this one's not worth bringing up to tech support? I mean, hell - those people wouldn't even stop scratching their heads long enough to come up with a snappy retort. (And this just begs for several, doesn't it?)

Mine clicks at me while I'm in Works like it doesn't approve of my writing.
ReplyDeleteHmm! Never occurred to me that shake, rattle, buzz, and hum here was making editorial comments!
ReplyDeleteI wonder...?
Well, now, if your PC was making a "hmmm-nk-nk-nk-nk" sound, then this could be easily expalined. But a "Bzzt-di-di-di-di-dit" sound? No, that's a tough one.
ReplyDeleteBut if you hear a "Ka-Chunk!" sound, CALL THE MAN!"
"The man"? Did you really just say that?
ReplyDeleteNo, the ka-chunk sound is when it chokes on the popcorn I left atop the case as burnt offerings for the line noise gods. Duhhh.
Oh, and "ka-thunk" is the sound it makes flirting with the washing machine downstairs. It's kind of cute, especially when the washer goes into an unbalanced tizzy during the spin cycle and starts thrumming "hubba hubba hubba woosh!"
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I just hope the dryer doesn't get jealous! That could get ugly. :)
No, the dryer is still in mourning for the old washer; it died a day or two after the power came back on, post-Ike. The dryer just sighs and tosses clothes in the air with a certain fatalistic rhythm. siiiiigh..."bump cha-bump" siiiiiigh..."bump cha-bump"
